Kerrie Merrifield, owner of Axiom Forensics, has successfully completed the rigorous certification process with the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA) to earn the Master Analyst in Financial Forensics (MAFF) credential.


"The Master Analyst in Financial Forensics credential is designed to provide assurance to the business and legal communities-the primary users of financial forensic accounting services-that the designee possesses a level of experience and knowledge deemed acceptable by the Association to provide competent and professional financial forensic consulting services," stated NACVA's Chief Executive Officer, Parnell Black, MBA, CPA, CVA. "The designation is an indication to the professional community that Kerrie Merrifield has met the Association's rigorous standards of professionalism, expertise, objectivity, and integrity in the financial forensic accounting discipline."


Requirements to earn the MAFF designation include, being the holder of NACVA's business valuation credential (Certified Valuation Analyst) or a comparable industry credential, and experience of providing business valuation services. They must also demonstrate proof of foundational experience by having been involved in 20 matters in the financial forensics field.


The field is comprised of seven specialty areas, including commercial damages and lost profits; matrimonial litigation; bankruptcy, insolvency, and restructuring; business valuation in litigation; business and intellectual property damages; forensic accounting; or fraud risk management. They may also meet the foundational experience requirement by attending training offered by NACVA, the Financial Forensics Institute, and the Consultants' training Institute, or demonstrating substantial hours of experience in business valuation in the specialty areas. All candidates must pass a comprehensive examination.

Kerrie Merrifield Earns Exclusive Accredited in Business Valuation Credential


Kerrie Merrifield, a CPA valuation expert with Axiom Forensics located in Laguna Niguel, CA,  has recently been awarded the Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) Credential by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).  The ABV Credential, established in 1998 by the AICPA, is granted to qualified CPAs with considerable professional experience in business valuation.  
Kerrie Merrifield met the requirements to earn the ABV credential, which include passing a rigorous exam, demonstrating significant business experience in the area of financial forensics as well as completing a minimum of 75 hours of life-long learning and education activities in the area of valuation. The ABV Credential is granted exclusively to CPAs who are members in good standing of the AICPA which binds them to the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct.

CPAs who have earned the ABV Credential must be recertified every three years to maintain their credential.
